Steve Hardacre, Managing Director


Steve has 25+ years of general management and marketing leadership in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Korea and the U.S. for two of the largest global pharmaceutical companies. His consulting engagement scope at Critical Game Consulting is  currently focused on leadership, delivering high performance results, developing effective  Compliance strategies and practices in a fast-changing environment, and enhancing  speed to market for new products in the healthcare industry, primarily in Asia and the Middle East (Dubai).

Additionally, and building off his healthcare experience, he also provides consulting leadership services in agrochemical manufacturing and supply chain excellence, new product development and registration, as well as strategic thinking, planning and implementation across multiple industries, including land development and construction in Asia.  

 Steve is a current member and Board of Director for the Asian Transformation & Turnaround Association (ATTA), the premier professional body in Asia bringing together leaders in the business turnaround and transformation field across all industries and geographies
. He is based in Japan when he is not travelling on project asssignment. He speaks Japanese fluently and functional Chinese.


Craig Bihari, Senior Consultant

Craig Bihari specializes in the formulation and implementation of global project alliances and breakthrough performance projects.

Craig has 25+ years of international experience working with Fortune 100 companies to produce major schedule accelerations and profit increases on highly aggressive large-scale EPC projects; implementing new breakthrough strategies and high performance work cultures, and realizing exceptional value through alliance/relational contracting primarily in healthcare, oil and gas, renewable energy, construction and safety.

Craig had extensive multi-national and multi-cultural experience developing, leading and coaching executives and project delivery teams to produce unprecedented results on critical projects and programs that have documented new industry norms.

Craig’s core strengths include increasing project profitability, timeline and schedule accelerations, implementing peak performance operating cultures, effective interventions, inspirational leadership and executive stewardship.


James works with Critical Game Consulting on a Value Chain and OPex projects. He is currently co-leading  an agro-chemical project with CGC, which includes 25 end-to-end sub-projects covering:  production plannning & forecasting, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, HSE and right-size staffing.

James has been in management roles since then, focusing on automotive and M&A involving private equity investees. From 2004 to 2008 he led Supplier Development in Greater China for BMW, Bosch companies. In 2009, he established Ventual Limited as a specialist advisory for China's automotive and clean-tech supply chains enterprises and private equity investors in the following areas:

- investors with M&A strategy, due diligence, integration and turnaround; 
- OEMs with sourcing and supplier management; 
- and component suppliers in building best practice processes, systems, structures and strategy.

Jeff Powell, Senior Consultant

Jeff has more than twenty-five years' experience as a consultant and advisor, specializing in Strategy, Organizational Performance, Leadership Development and cross-cultural effectiveness and Compliance. He has worked with Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies across many industries, including oil and gas, agrochemicals and healthcare in the US, Europe and Asia. Jeff has worked, lived in or consulted in over 30 countries and has working knowledge of six languages. 


Gavin has 30 years of experience working within the Technology, Finance, Commodities, Management Consulting, Industrials and Publishing sectors. He has broad management experience leading large project teams across the globe. His specialties are turnarounds, strategy and technology management with a focus upon organisational efficiency. His most recent CGC project has been focused on transforming an investment-intensive Product Development and Registration group into a higher performing team for a rapidly growing global agrochemical in China.

He was trained as an executive coach by The Rosenberg Group. Gavin holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), winning the Award for Managing People and Organisations.




Jane Tian (Tian Xiuzhen), has conducted a range of unrivalled research projects and ensures that our clients have first-class advice in their mainland China activities. Jane was a reporter for the China Daily from 2000 to 2005 covering maritime affairs, shipbuilding, urban construction, civil engineering, real estate industry, and space aviation, plus industrial and financial developments. She holds a Master of Arts (March 2000) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, majoring in linguistics and applied linguistics.
